The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has initiated a nationwide membership mobilization campaign, appointing Kashim Imam as the head of the newly established Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee. The committee, which includes Aisha Yesufu as deputy chairman and Sekonte Davis as secretary, has been tasked with submitting an interim report within 30 days.

During the inauguration of the committee, ADC’s National Chairman David Mark emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating it marks an important step towards strengthening the party’s structure. He noted that for the ADC’s ideals to translate into political success, it is essential to have a “solid, credible and verifiable membership base” supported by effective mobilization structures across Nigeria.

Mark asserted that no political party can aspire to national relevance without a robust and well-documented membership. He described membership as “the lifeblood of any democratic organization,” which determines legitimacy, strength, reach, and ultimately, electoral success. He acknowledged the urgent necessity for the ADC to revalidate existing members, register new ones, and enhance grassroots presence.

The MRMR Committee is set to oversee the registration of new members nationwide, ensuring inclusivity, transparency, and adherence to the party’s guidelines and democratic principles. Imam expressed a commitment to returning the ADC to its grassroots origins, pledging to engage the average Nigerian, whom he believes has been neglected and marginalized.

“Our party, the ADC, is a grassroots movement,” Imam stated. “We will strive to ensure that the average Nigerian gets a fair share.” He highlighted the wealth of resources in Nigeria, asserting that poverty should not be a reality when the ADC comes to power. He called for a movement that empowers the masses, stating that the party belongs to the people.

Imam assured the committee’s dedication to the task ahead, promising to work tirelessly across all regions of Nigeria, including rural areas and urban centers. He declared, “You will see us mobilizing and registering members in the creeks, in the deserts, and across the length and breadth of this country. This is a mass movement.”

Through this initiative, the ADC aims to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s political landscape, with a focus on inclusivity and community engagement as central tenets of its mission.
