Former Chief Justice Vesna Medenica Arrested Amid Criminal Allegations

Vesna Medenica, the former President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, has been arrested on suspicions of involvement in a criminal organization led by her son, Miloš Medenica. The phone call, intercepted on April 14, 2022, occurred just three days before her arrest. According to transcripts obtained by the Adria portal, Medenica stated, “I have become the biggest thief, and I have given up my own life to fulfill my responsibilities properly.” This statement reflects the gravity of her situation as she faces serious legal challenges.

During the call, the main topic was reportedly Miloš Medenica’s health issues. However, eight days prior, the Libertas news agency published a report from Europol, indicating that Miloš was allegedly involved in cigarette smuggling and drug trafficking.
