Nigerian Air Force Strikes Terrorist Stronghold in Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted precision airstrikes that destroyed a major terrorist base in the Sauri camp, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This decisive action reflects the NAF’s ongoing commitment to combatting terrorism and restoring peace in Nigeria. The strikes were part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and occurred on November 14, 2025.

During an operational visit to the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina State, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, underscored the NAF’s dedication to eliminating threats posed by terrorists. He emphasized that the support from the federal government, which includes modern aircraft and advanced weaponry, enhances the NAF’s ability to achieve significant results in securing the nation.

Aneke called on NAF personnel to intensify their efforts in alignment with directives from President Bola Tinubu, urging them to remain vigilant and effective in their operations. He acknowledged the increasing complexity of Nigeria’s security challenges, attributing this to the rise of non-state actors engaging in violent activities that jeopardize civilian lives.

In his address, Aneke stated, “We cannot relent for a moment. The nation is counting on us to restore peace and reclaim every inch of territory challenged by insurgents and criminals.” He praised the courage and professionalism of NAF troops, despite the difficulties faced in the operational environment.

The CAS reiterated that the NAF’s mission is to locate and neutralise threats wherever they may be hiding—whether in remote villages or dense forests. He emphasized the importance of operational momentum and the necessity for every mission to reflect the NAF’s core values of discipline, service, and patriotism.

A comprehensive briefing was provided by Air Commodore Chukwuedo E. Illoh, the Air Component Commander, detailing the current campaign plans and operational successes. This briefing highlighted the strategic approach being taken to counter threats across the region.

Aneke’s leadership philosophy focuses not only on military effectiveness but also on the well-being of NAF personnel. He stated, “A force that fights hard must also live well,” affirming that under his command, the welfare, training, and resources available to personnel will reflect their courage and dedication in the field.

The recent airstrikes followed extensive intelligence and surveillance operations that identified significant terrorist activity in the area. According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the air component executed multiple strikes on identified targets, resulting in direct hits that disrupted terrorist activities and significantly diminished their operational capabilities.

Ejodame also noted that the successful mission led to the neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical infrastructure used by these groups for logistical purposes. He quoted Aneke, reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist elements: “We will find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.”

The operational achievements of the NAF underline their ongoing resolve to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensure the safety of its citizens.
