Exeter Man Celebrates £1 Million Scratchcard Win This Christmas
Lee Dart, a businessman from Exeter, has described winning £1 million on a scratchcard as the “best Christmas present” ever. Dart struck it rich with the top prize of The National Lottery’s £30m Christmas Extravaganza, marking a life-changing moment during the festive season.
On a spontaneous visit to his local shop, Dart decided to indulge in a festive scratchcard. After scratching off the ticket, it quickly became clear that he had won a substantial prize. “I couldn’t believe it; I must have checked it 20 times,” Dart shared. “You never expect it to happen to you—especially that close to Christmas. It’s been the best Christmas present!”
Once the reality of his windfall sank in, Dart took the precaution of hiding the scratchcard under his pillow. He plans to use the winnings to pay off his mortgage, stating, “I’ve worked hard all my life, and this gives me a chance to pause and really consider what I want to do going forward.”
Dart, who owns a sign-making company, also expressed his desire to share his good fortune with friends and family. “Helping my loved ones means everything to me, and being in a position to make a difference to the people I care about is a great feeling,” he said. “It’s amazing to know that I can help them out after all the support they have given me over the years.”
National Lottery Celebrates Win
Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, acknowledged Dart’s remarkable win as a testament to the magic of Christmas. They expressed their excitement for Dart as the New Year approaches, filled with potential opportunities.
Senior Winners’ Advisor, Andy Carter, commented on the significance of Dart’s win, saying, “What a fantastic way for Lee to enjoy the festive season, sharing the joy. A £1 million win on a Christmas Scratchcard is truly special.” Carter emphasized that clearing his mortgage and the ability to assist loved ones highlights the heartwarming nature of this win.
As Dart prepares for a brighter future, his story serves as an uplifting reminder that dreams can indeed come true, especially during the holiday season.
