Zirojević’s Comments Spark Political Debate on National Security

Jovana Todorović, spokesperson for the Democratic People’s Party (DNP), has responded critically to comments made by Nikola Zirojević, a member of the Social Democrats (SD). Zirojević warned that the situation in Botun could escalate and called for Milojko Spajić, the Prime Minister, to urgently convene a meeting of the Council for National Security.

Todorović expressed her observations in a statement, noting that Zirojević has taken on the role of spokesperson for the police administration without any formal process. She remarked, “It is nice to see when ambition and obedience blend so harmoniously.” This comment reflects her view that Zirojević’s statements are carefully crafted and perhaps dictated, underscoring a perceived lack of independence in his position.

In light of Zirojević’s well-known apprehension regarding the influence of Šćepanović, Todorović suggested that there is no doubt about the origin of his statements, which she believes are conveyed with a distinct elevated tone. “Zirojević has, as always, demonstrated an admirable level of discipline and readiness to serve,” she stated. However, she criticized him for not wearing a police uniform during his public address, suggesting that it would have visually reinforced the role he seems to fulfill.

Todorović expressed confidence that Šćepanović would appreciate Zirojević’s efforts, suggesting that future interactions may be quieter. “If nothing else, Zirojević has at least earned a shorter break from the noise, at least until the next statement he will ‘independently’ write,” she concluded, indicating a level of sarcasm about the nature of political discourse in the region.
