Montenegro Allocates €30 Million to Boost Žabljak’s Infrastructure
The Government of Montenegro has officially allocated €30 million to the municipality of Žabljak as part of the approved budget for 2026. This substantial funding aims to enhance local and communal infrastructure, marking the largest single financial support in the municipality’s history. Such a commitment is set to serve as a significant catalyst for the further development of Žabljak.
Radoš Žugić, the President of the Municipality of Žabljak, expressed that this decision reflects the diligent efforts of the local administration, a clear developmental vision, and consistent advocacy for the interests of residents. He emphasized the constructive collaboration with the Government of Montenegro, noting that unlike previous years characterized by unfulfilled promises, this decision demonstrates a commitment to achieve measurable progress through responsible governance and partnership.
This funding is particularly significant as it highlights Žabljak’s strategic importance within Montenegro, especially in the context of sustainable development, tourism, and improving the quality of life for residents. According to Žugić, securing such a large sum underscores the trust placed in the local administration’s ability to plan, implement, and responsibly manage developmental projects.
Impact on Local Development
The planned financial support will enable the execution of key infrastructure projects that are expected to contribute to long-term development in Žabljak. The local government emphasized its dedication to maintaining a cooperative relationship with the Government of Montenegro, focusing on responsible policies and unwavering representation of the local community’s interests.
Žugić noted that this budget represents a clear indication that Žabljak is no longer marginalised in developmental policies but is now an equal and dependable partner in the overall development of Montenegro. The municipality anticipates that this allocation will foster improved living conditions for all residents while paving the way for future initiatives aimed at enhancing the region’s appeal and sustainability.
With these developments, Žabljak is poised to take significant steps toward achieving its developmental goals, ensuring that the municipality can effectively respond to the needs of its citizens and the demands of a growing tourism sector.
