AgriPass Robotics Secures $7.5 Million for Innovative Weed Control
Agricultural robotics firm AgriPass Robotics has successfully raised $7.5 million in seed funding to enhance the rollout of its robotic weed-control platform across the United States and Europe. The funding round was led by Harbor Venture Consulting, with participation from existing investor E44 Climate Ventures and other strategic partners. This investment aims to bolster manufacturing readiness, expand commercial field operations, and further develop AgriPass’s cultivation technology across various crops and agricultural applications.
Transforming Farming with Robotics
Founded in 2023 by Liron Cohen-Yanay, Assaf Friedler, Guy Raz, and Yarden Goldwasser in Israel, AgriPass focuses on a unique approach to weed control through its platform, known as RHIC, or Robot of Human-Inspired Cultivation. This robotic system is designed to emulate the decision-making capabilities of seasoned farmers. Instead of utilizing chemical herbicides or broad mechanical removal methods, RHIC employs computer vision and contextual intelligence to identify weeds and respond with precision in real time.
The platform continuously assesses field conditions, including weed density, proximity to crops, and soil characteristics. This data enables RHIC to perform targeted mechanical actions that remove weeds at the root while minimizing unnecessary soil disruption. By adjusting its operations based on real-time feedback, RHIC replicates the care and attention of a skilled farmer, achieving human-level selectivity at the scale required for modern agricultural practices.
Addressing Labor and Sustainability Challenges
AgriPass’s technology specifically targets small and mid-sized farms, which are increasingly grappling with labor shortages, rising operational costs, and environmental pressures. The RHIC platform is capable of replacing the efforts of up to 20 manual workers in just one day, allowing farm teams to dedicate their time to higher-value tasks rather than repetitive weed management.
Additionally, the system promotes sustainable farming by eliminating the need for chemical herbicides, thereby reducing chemical runoff and fostering healthier soil ecosystems. This mechanical precision not only minimizes soil disturbance but also conserves moisture and lowers the risk of erosion. Healthier soil and a decreased reliance on chemicals contribute to better water management, a pressing concern for farmers facing climate variability.
Initially, AgriPass is concentrating on high-value vegetable crops, where issues such as weed competition, labor availability, and soil health are critical to enhancing productivity and profitability.
The company has already initiated commercial deployments in both the EU and the United States. Existing contracts and advanced engagements are expected to boost AgriPass’s projected revenue pipeline for 2026, highlighting a growing market demand for its innovative platform. Collaborations with partners in the ag-robotics and food systems sectors, such as FYELD Agriculture, EIT Food, and the NVIDIA Inception Program, further support both field deployment and ongoing technological advancements.
AgriPass’s achievements have garnered industry accolades, including being named a winner of the 2025 Climate Solutions Prize. CEO Liron Yanay was also recognized as one of the Women in AgFood 2025 leaders, reflecting the company’s significant impact on the agricultural sector.
As AgriPass looks to the future, it aims to position its platform as a vital contributor to resilient and sustainable farming systems. “Labour volatility, regulatory pressure, and soil degradation are redefining farm operations,” said Liron Yanay. “Food security now depends on building more resilient production systems, and agriculture is undergoing a structural transformation to meet these challenges. We built RHIC to replicate human agronomic judgment in real time, guiding soil-safe, selective mechanical action at commercial scale. This funding enables us to expand across the U.S. and Europe and scale our durable cultivation platform designed for long-term performance.”
