In a disturbing incident in Podgorica, three individuals were arrested on suspicion of brutally assaulting a man over a disputed debt. The attack, which occurred on February 13, 2026, in the Gornja Gorica neighborhood, involved severe physical violence and threats aimed at coercing the victim into repaying a loan of €5,000.

According to the Police Administration of Montenegro, the suspects, identified as M.M. (25) and B.M. (35), are accused of committing serious bodily injury in conjunction with acts of coercion. A third individual, S.R., was arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the assault.

Reports indicate that the victim was forcibly taken to an undisclosed location in Gornja Gorica. Once there, B.M. began to physically assault the victim, delivering multiple punches to his head. When the victim attempted to defend himself, M.M. and S.R. intervened, overpowering him and preventing any further resistance. B.M. then bound the victim’s hands with tape and used a knife to inflict several cuts on his right arm.

Medical evaluation confirmed that the victim sustained serious bodily injuries as a result of the assault. The motive behind the attack was reportedly an attempt to recover a loan of €5,000 that M.M. claimed was owed to him, stemming from a previous loan of €1,800. The suspects allegedly believed they had a right to enforce this claim through intimidation and violence.

Following their arrest, the suspects were taken for questioning by the prosecuting attorney. They are currently being held for a maximum of 72 hours while the investigation continues. The case highlights ongoing issues related to debt collection practices and personal safety in the region.

Authorities have emphasized the seriousness of the charges, which reflect broader concerns about violent crime in Montenegro. Further developments are expected as the investigation unfolds, and the suspects may face severe legal consequences if convicted.
