Manhunt Intensifies for Triple Murder Suspect in Australia

A major manhunt is underway in New South Wales, Australia, as authorities search for Julian Ingram, the prime suspect in a triple murder that shocked the small town of Lake Cargelligo. Ingram, 37, is accused of shooting three individuals, including his pregnant ex-partner, on January 22, 2023. The investigation continues as police have released new CCTV footage that reportedly shows Ingram at a local police station on the day of the attack.

The tragic events unfolded around 16:30 local time on Bokhara Street. Ingram allegedly opened fire on a vehicle occupied by his ex-partner, Sophie Quinn, 24, and her friend John Harris, 32. Following this, he is said to have traveled to a nearby residence, where he shot Nerida Quinn, 50, Sophie’s aunt. Another victim, Kaled Macqueen, 19, was shot at the driveway of a home on Walker Street and is currently hospitalized.

Ingram, also known as Pierpoint, had been granted bail on November 30, 2022, after facing domestic violence charges, including assault and stalking. Following the incident, police have described him as having Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, standing between 165-170 cm tall, with a medium build, short dark hair, and brown eyes. The CCTV footage shows him wearing a yellow and navy high-visibility shirt, navy cargo pants, black boots, and a red cap, along with multiple tattoos on his arms.

Authorities are conducting extensive searches across the area, with a significant police presence reported. According to NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland, the search is complicated by Ingram’s former employment with the local council. He stated that Ingram is familiar with the region’s hiding spots, including caves, which may complicate the ongoing efforts to locate him.

Police are also pursuing multiple leads, including a report of a man on a bicycle who failed to stop for officers. They are actively searching for Ingram’s vehicle, a Ford Ranger utility with New South Wales registration DM-07-GZ, known to feature council signage, a metal tray back, high visibility markings, and an emergency light bar on the roof.

Holland urged anyone who may be assisting Ingram to consider the wider community’s safety, stating, “What he has committed here is an atrocity.”

NSW Police have emphasized that anyone who sees Ingram or his vehicle should not approach him and should immediately contact emergency services by dialing Triple Zero (000). The urgency of this situation is paramount as the community seeks justice and safety in the wake of this devastating event.
