The highly anticipated opening episode of The Traitors Season 4 premiered on January 1, 2024, introducing 22 new contestants who will navigate the show’s signature environment of deception and intrigue. Among them is Matthew Hyndburn, a 35-year-old creative director from Edinburgh, whose unexpected side business has recently captured the attention of fans.

Hyndburn has gained notoriety for his unique art project, which features him performing naked headstands in various stunning locations. These striking photographs are available for purchase, with a single framed piece priced at £1,180 from Bard Scotland, a gallery that currently showcases several of his works, according to Wales Online.

His artistic venture is further promoted through a dedicated Instagram account, @headstandmatty, which has attracted nearly 17,000 followers. Meanwhile, he maintains a separate primary account, @yermatty, where he engages with fans while participating in The Traitors. His biography playfully directs followers to his headstand page with the phrase, “If you know you know.”

Before entering the show’s castle, Hyndburn shared his aspirations for the potential prize money, which can reach up to £120,000. He expressed a desire to purchase a quaint cottage in the Highlands of Scotland, stating, “I go up there so much, and I just kind of imagine myself there, so that’s probably what I would do.”

Hyndburn also touched on his personal life, revealing that he and his partner got engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been an advocate for marriage equality in Northern Ireland, where same-sex marriage was legalized only in 2020. “At the time I was campaigning, I didn’t think that I wanted to get married, but now I feel like I do,” he shared. “I think that I would probably say that I’m going to get married back home in Northern Ireland on my family farm. And then if I win, I might just have to do that.”

In a notable twist this season, the show has introduced an additional Traitor whose identity remains concealed from both contestants and viewers. This unexpected element is likely to heighten the stakes and intrigue as the series unfolds.

Fans can catch the latest episodes of The Traitors tonight at 20:00 on BBC One and iPlayer. As the drama continues, viewers will be eager to see how Hyndburn’s artistic pursuits and personal ambitions intersect with the game’s competitive landscape.
