Amanda Holden’s Candid Remarks on Simon Cowell’s Style Spark Laughter
Amanda Holden found herself in a humorous predicament during a recent episode of her Heart Radio Breakfast Show when she participated in a lie detector test. The test took an unexpected turn when a seemingly innocent question about her colleague Simon Cowell’s fashion sense led to some candid remarks that left both her and the audience in stitches.
The 53-year-old broadcaster and judge on Britain’s Got Talent was connected to a lie detector as she tackled various questions. Initially, everything went smoothly when she was asked whether she would ever join the cast of The Masked Singer. “No,” she replied firmly, and the lie detector confirmed her honesty, according to The Mirror. Amanda explained her reasoning, stating, “I love watching it, by the way, but I just wouldn’t do it. No. Be too sweaty in there. I’d do it for the weight loss,” she joked.
The atmosphere shifted dramatically when a listener named Michelle texted in with a provocative question: “Do you think Simon Cowell’s dress sense is good?” Amanda chuckled at the mention of Cowell’s name but proceeded cautiously with her answer. “Dress sense? When he wears a suit in the live finals, I think he looks really handsome, yes.” The lie detector, however, seemed to disagree, indicating a “deceptive reaction.”
“I’m sorry, Simon,” the presenter announced, leaving Amanda looking somewhat sheepish. She attempted to clarify her statement, saying, “He does look very handsome on the live shows in a shirt and jacket. Well, I don’t mind his compression tops. It’s the tracksuit bottoms for me.” Her frankness highlighted a playful dynamic between the two, as she defended Cowell against one specific fashion criticism: “He doesn’t wear a Cuban heel — I’m going to stick up for him — but I’m not a fan of a tracksuit bottom on a man on live television.”
This isn’t the first time Amanda has poked fun at Cowell’s style. Last year, during an appearance on This Morning, she commented on his casual outfit choice, which included grey shorts that drew both audience attention and her own amusement. “What was he wearing? Did he cycle in? He’s got a good knee,” she quipped, showcasing her trademark wit.
Their long-standing professional partnership spans over a decade on Britain’s Got Talent, where they have become one of the most recognized duos in British television. Known for their lively rapport and playful exchanges, Amanda often praises Cowell’s ability to spot talent and his significant influence on her career.
In the world of entertainment, moments like these not only entertain audiences but also reveal the lighter side of celebrity interactions. Amanda’s candid remarks about Simon Cowell’s style, combined with her quick wit, continue to endear her to fans, reinforcing her status as a beloved personality on British television.
