Saudi Foreign Minister Condemns Israel, Urges Two-State Solution
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, delivered a strong condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. He described Israel’s conduct in the ongoing conflict as a “direct violation” of international law and emphasized the urgent need for a two-state solution to address the enduring crisis.
Al Saud highlighted the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has been officially designated as a famine by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report. “The suffering of the Palestinian people and the unprecedented humanitarian crisis runs counter to the principles of the Charter and international humanitarian law,” he stated. His remarks underscored the gravity of the situation, calling attention to the humanitarian impact of the conflict.
The Saudi minister further criticized what he termed the “brutal and unchecked practices” of Israeli forces. He cited issues such as starvation, forced displacement, and systematic killings as indicative of a troubling disregard for the rights of Palestinians. Al Saud warned that failure by the international community to intervene could lead to escalating violence. He asserted that such inaction “will escalate war crimes and acts of genocide.”
Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud urged the international community to accept its responsibility in bringing an end to the conflict. He reiterated that achieving a sustainable peace is only possible through a two-state solution, which he believes is essential for ensuring security for all countries in the region. “Saudi Arabia stresses the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibility to put an end to this tragedy,” he added.
The call for a two-state solution reflects a long-standing position of Saudi Arabia, which has sought peace in the region through diplomatic channels. Al Saud’s speech at the United Nations comes amid increasing tensions and violence in Gaza, where humanitarian conditions have deteriorated significantly.
As the situation develops, the international community faces mounting pressure to respond decisively to the humanitarian crisis and work towards a lasting resolution that respects the rights and aspirations of both Palestinians and Israelis.
