Authorities in Edinburgh are urging the public to provide information following an incident on New Year’s Day in which an 81-year-old man was struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2026, as the man was walking along Queensferry Street, close to Dean Bridge. He was hit by a white Suzuki Ignis and sustained serious injuries, prompting emergency services to transport him to a local hospital.

Police have confirmed that there were no other injuries reported in connection with the incident. In light of the circumstances surrounding the accident, they have launched an appeal for public assistance.
