Kolasin 1600 Workers Suspend Protests, Assure No Road Blockade

Workers at the Ski Centre Kolasin 1600 have announced the suspension of protests, ensuring that the Kolasin – Berane road will not be blocked starting from October 25, 2023. This decision follows a demonstration where employees expressed their commitment to the local community and the importance of maintaining traffic flow, stating that “traffic lines are always lines of life.”

During the protest, workers communicated their desire for all road users to be aware that there will be no disruption of traffic between 12:00 and 14:00 in the coming days. Their statement emphasizes a temporary halt to protests, while firmly maintaining their demands for improvements at the ski centre.

Commitment to Community and Tourism

The workers highlighted their good intentions and initiative, expressing a genuine connection to Bjelasica Mountain and its tourism narrative. They underscored the significance of the winter tourism season at the Ski Centre Kolasin 1600, stressing that the future of the season now relies on broader support beyond just the employees.

“Since we began raising awareness about our issues on October 14, no one from the authorities has reached out to us,” an employee stated, questioning whether the winter season is a concern solely for the staff or for the entire town and northern Montenegro. They called for attention from local authorities, the relevant ministries, and the government to address their concerns regarding the completion of ski lift renovations and the preparation of machinery for the upcoming season.

Workers at the state-run ski resort are eager to ensure that the winter season operates smoothly, emphasizing that it should not solely depend on their efforts.
