A violent incident at JU OŠ “Sutjeska” in Podgorica has led to criminal charges against four minors, following an assault on a 14-year-old student. The attack occurred on February 3, 2026, around 09:00 hours, when the victim was reportedly ambushed by the accused, aged 14 and 15.
According to a report filed by the victim’s parent and the school’s administration, the attackers forcibly entered the classroom, restrained the victim, and proceeded to strike him multiple times with their fists, an umbrella, and a bottle. This brutal episode has raised serious concerns about bullying and violence in schools.
The police officers from the Criminal Police Unit specializing in juvenile delinquency, in cooperation with the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, promptly identified the minors involved. The legal guardians of the accused were present while necessary statements were collected. The police emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident to ensure accountability.
Following the investigation, the acting prosecutor instructed that a criminal complaint be filed against the four minors for suspected violent behavior. This decision underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the commitment to addressing issues of school violence.
The Police Directorate has called on parents to actively monitor their children’s behavior and to provide adequate support in their development. They stressed the importance of timely intervention in cases of bullying.
In collaboration with schools and relevant institutions, the police will continue implementing preventive and proactive measures aimed at reducing violence. This includes raising awareness among minors about the significance of non-violent communication and constructive conflict resolution.
As society grapples with the issue of youth violence, this incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to foster safe school environments. The authorities are determined to take appropriate actions to prevent future occurrences and to support the well-being of all students.
