A new family-run gym has opened its doors in Ashby, aiming to create an inclusive environment for fitness enthusiasts of all backgrounds. The Brick House Gym, located at 220 High Street, welcomed its first customers on January 24, 2023. Founders Rebecca and Tommy Coyle have reported over 20 memberships since the launch, reflecting a positive reception from the community.

Rebecca Coyle emphasized their vision for the gym, expressing a desire to counteract the decline of the High Street in nearby Scunthorpe. She stated, “We want to have a safe space for everybody. Everybody trains at different times of the day.” The gym’s ethos centers on fostering a community atmosphere where members can feel comfortable and not pressured while exercising.

Community-Centric Approach

The Coyle family envisions Brick House Gym as more than just a fitness facility. They hope to create a welcoming space where they can get to know each member personally. “We want to be able to know all of our members by name and just leave people to it if they don’t want to talk that day,” Rebecca explained.

Membership at Brick House Gym is competitively priced compared to other local options, making it accessible for a broad audience. The gym operates from 6 AM to 10 PM, allowing for flexibility in workout schedules. Members can conveniently access the gym through a smartphone app, and the facility is monitored by 24-hour CCTV for added security.

Rebecca highlighted their commitment to accessibility, noting that she and Tommy live just three minutes away, ensuring a quick response if assistance is needed. Additionally, thoughtful touches, such as a bowl of sweets for members, add to the friendly atmosphere.

Unique Concept Blending Fitness and Fun

The gym features a range of equipment, including free weights and various exercise machines designed for both cardio and strength training. Notably, it includes a cross-trainer and a treadmill that can reach a steep incline for more rigorous workouts.

The gym’s theme is inspired by the Coyle family’s love for Lego, with Rebecca stating, “We just build Lego all the time… our house is covered. We have got Lego everywhere.” This passion for building and creativity has influenced the gym’s name and décor, merging their two greatest interests into a unique fitness space.

As Brick House Gym continues to grow, the Coyle family remains dedicated to cultivating a supportive environment that encourages members to achieve their fitness goals while feeling part of a community. The local response thus far suggests that their vision is resonating with residents, fostering a renewed sense of togetherness in Ashby.
