Montenegro’s Premier Proposes Removal of Sports Minister Scekic

Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, has officially proposed to the National Assembly the removal of Dragoslav Scekic from his position as Minister of Sports and Youth. This suggestion follows a request from Vladimir Jokovic, the head of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), who called for Scekic’s dismissal earlier this month.

Jokovic, who also serves as the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, addressed Spajic in a letter stating that Scekic is no longer a member of the SNP. According to Jokovic, the agreement establishing the 44th Government stipulated that the SNP would nominate two candidates for ministerial positions, including that of the Minister of Sports and Youth. With Scekic’s departure from the party, Jokovic emphasized that the ministerial role should be filled by a member of the SNP.

In his communication, Jokovic requested that Spajic initiate the process to replace Scekic, highlighting the need for the party to maintain its representation in the government. He indicated that he would provide the name of a suitable candidate for the ministerial position at a later time.

The political landscape in Montenegro has seen significant changes recently, and this proposed shift in ministerial roles underscores the ongoing adjustments within the government.
