Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his contentment with life in Saudi Arabia, stating, “I belong to Saudi Arabia,” following a brief dispute with his club, Al-Nassr. The 41-year-old forward missed two league matches, including a narrow 1-0 victory over Al-Riyadh on February 2, 2024, and a 2-0 win against Al-Ittihad on February 6, 2024.

Reports indicate that tensions arose when Ronaldo became dissatisfied with the lack of investment in the team from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also oversees rival club Al-Hilal. Al-Hilal, utilizing PIF resources, made a significant acquisition by signing Ronaldo’s former teammate.

After returning to the field, Ronaldo demonstrated his value by scoring against Al-Fateh on February 14, 2024, and netting two goals in a decisive 4-0 triumph over Al-Nazem. This victory propelled Al-Nassr to the top of the league standings.

Ronaldo’s Commitment to Al-Nassr

In an interview with broadcaster Thmanyah, Ronaldo emphasized his happiness in Saudi Arabia. He remarked, “It’s a country that welcomes very well to me, to my family and friends. I’m happy here, I want to continue here.” He also highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in the league, commenting on his team’s position at the top and the need to focus on their performance.

“The most important is we keep pushing,” Ronaldo stated. “We’re there at the top, we don’t know the results of the other opponents. Let’s see, we do our job, win, make pressure and let’s see at the end of the season.” His optimism reflects a renewed sense of confidence within the squad, which he described as “on track” and “good.”

Ronaldo’s recent grievances were addressed when his primary demands were met, including restoring management authority to club executives Simão Coutinho and José Semedo, as well as resolving overdue salary payments.

Having extended his contract last June, Ronaldo remains with Al-Nassr until the summer of 2027, solidifying his role in the growing football landscape of Saudi Arabia. His commitment to the club and the country marks a significant chapter in his illustrious career, as he continues to leave an indelible mark on the sport.
