The relationship between the Osnovni sud (Basic Court) in Podgorica and the Uprava policije (Police Administration) is functioning effectively, according to a statement from the court. The court emphasized that no significant issues have arisen that could not be resolved in accordance with the law.

In a recent update, the court noted that it issued an order for the compulsory appearance of a convicted individual, identified as Mitrović, on February 14, 2026, after attempts to deliver a summons to her at the specified address were unsuccessful. The Police Administration received this order on February 19, 2026, following the completion of necessary administrative procedures.

The police had previously reported that they made multiple attempts to locate the convicted individual, submitting a notification to the court on January 30, 2026, indicating that she was evading police contact. This notification was recorded by the court on February 2, 2026, prompting the issuance of a warrant for her arrest. The court clarified that given the timeline of events, there was no urgency that warranted immediate action from the court regarding the police’s efforts.

The Osnovni sud stated that the timeframe of 11 days for police action did not necessitate a request for updates on the measures taken to execute the court order. They highlighted that thorough efforts and multiple searches are required to ascertain whether an individual is avoiding receiving court summonses before a warrant can be justified.

To enhance collaboration and efficiency, continuous meetings are held between representatives of the court and the police. One notable meeting took place with the police director, Lazar Šćepanović, at the Osnovni sud, where discussions focused on improving cooperation concerning the execution of court orders. The conclusions from this meeting are accessible on the court’s official website, detailed in a publication dated February 18, 2025.

The Osnovni sud’s commitment to maintaining a robust partnership with the Police Administration underscores a shared goal of effective law enforcement and judicial processes in Montenegro.
