Buducnost Volleyball Aims for Final Four Spot in MEVZA League
After a busy schedule that included a tournament in Budva and a match in Podgorica, the Buducnost Volley team is refocusing on the regional MEVZA League. Currently ranked second, the team aims to secure a spot in the Final Four following two recent victories against Budva (3:1) and Maribor (3:0), alongside a narrow defeat to Hungary’s MAV Elore (2:3), despite leading 2:0 at one point.
Upcoming Challenges for Buducnost
Buducnost, under the guidance of coach Dejan Radic, is set to face crucial matches in Maribor against top Croatian teams Mursa and Mladost, both scheduled for 14:00. These matches are pivotal for the team’s ambitions to qualify for the Final Four, which could be confirmed as early as this week. After these encounters, Buducnost will conclude the league segment with an away match against the Austrian team Zadruga in Bleiburg on January 25, 2024, at 19:00.
Radic expressed confidence in his team’s capabilities, stating, “After an outstanding start in the MEVZA League, where we demonstrated exceptional quality and positioned ourselves among the top contenders, we now face another tournament against highly competitive teams. We eagerly anticipate these matches, aiming to prove our quality once again and secure one of the top four spots leading to the Final Four. It’s another opportunity for the team to play at a high level, and this motivates us, as we have a group of incredible fighters for victories. I am proud of everything we have accomplished as a team thus far this season, but the job is not finished.”
Budva’s Position in the League
The second Montenegrin representative, Budva, will also play just one match by the end of the year, facing Zadruga in Bleiburg on January 24, 2024. Budva stands at a 2-1 record after winning against Maribor and MAV Elore at home, with their only loss coming against Buducnost. Coach Miljan Boskovic and his team will face Mladost and Mursa in January during the third tournament in Zagreb.
With high stakes and strong competition, the coming days will be crucial for both Buducnost and Budva as they strive to secure their places in the MEVZA League Finals. The performances in these matches may well determine their fates in the tournament and the reputation of Montenegrin volleyball on the regional stage.
