Buducnost Voli Dominates Mega with 100-82 Victory Ahead of Eurocup Clash
In a commanding performance, Buducnost Voli defeated Mega 100-82 on January 7, 2024, marking their third victory in the season against this rival team. The match, held at the MTEL Arena in Podgorica, was a significant win, not only contributing to Buducnost’s momentum in the ABA League but also providing a strong confidence boost ahead of their crucial Eurocup game against Turk Telekom on January 11, 2024.
Buducnost’s victory was characterized by a strong offensive display, particularly in the first quarter, where they outscored Mega 31-19. The team exhibited impressive shooting accuracy, making five three-pointers out of ten attempts and achieving nearly 70 percent shooting for two-point shots. Led by Rašid Sulejmon, who scored 12 points in the opening quarter, Buducnost established an early lead that they maintained throughout the game.
The home team entered the second quarter with a solid 12-point lead, and although Mega attempted to close the gap, Buducnost quickly responded with a series of successful plays. By the midpoint of the second quarter, they had stretched their advantage to 19 points, with a halftime score of 53-38. During this period, Sulejmon stood out as the top performer, finishing the first half with 19 points, while teammate Aksel Butej contributed 11 points to the scoreboard.
As the second half commenced, Mega sought to regain control, narrowing the deficit to 55-44. However, Buducnost responded with a series of three-pointers from Đorđije Jovanović, pushing their lead back to 19 points. The team maintained their composure, effectively controlling the game and concluding the third quarter with a score of 75-58.
Buducnost’s offensive strategy proved effective, as they consistently capitalized on their scoring opportunities. In the final quarter, their lead never dropped below 15 points, peaking at 23 points following a three-pointer from Flečar Megi. The match ended with Buducnost firmly in control, showcasing their strength in both offense and defense.
In total, Buducnost Voli had five players score in double digits, with Aksel Butej leading the team with 20 points. Sulejmon finished with 19 points, while Jovanovic and Megi contributed 11 and 12 points, respectively. For Mega, Sava Drezgić and Bogoljub Marković were the standout scorers, each netting 14 points.
Looking ahead, Buducnost Voli will face a challenging match against Turk Telekom in the Eurocup, where they will seek to secure a position in the quarterfinals. The support from their fans will be crucial as they aim to build on their recent success.
