Andrew Fitch Launches Campaign for 1st Berkshire District Seat
Andrew Fitch, a North Adams resident and Democrat, officially announced his candidacy for the 1st Berkshire District seat in the Massachusetts State House of Representatives on February 3, 2024. This position is currently held by John Barrett, who was first elected in November 2017 following the passing of former Representative Gailanne Cariddi.
Fitch has a diverse professional background. He co-owns the bakery bar Steeple City Social, a venture he has been involved with since November 2024. Additionally, since January 2024, he has served as a city councilor in North Adams. His role as president of the Impactful Art Factory began in December 2021, where he has focused on renovating and redeveloping commercial and residential spaces, alongside curating art galleries that emphasize social justice and progress.
In his campaign, Fitch outlines key issues he intends to address if elected. His platform includes a strong focus on community development, education, transportation, affordability, and regional collaboration. On his campaign website, he states, “Economic opportunity, affordability, and collaboration will be the pillars of my approach as your State Representative, but there is so much more to do.”
Fitch expresses a commitment to engaging with constituents throughout the district. He remarks, “In the coming months, I’m eager to explore each community within the 1st Berkshire District and get to know you all better. While we have so much in common as residents of this corner of the Commonwealth, there are also unique challenges and opportunities within each individual city and town.” His aim is to connect with as many residents as possible to effectively represent their interests.
Before his political career, Fitch worked as a developer evangelist at tech companies Cloudflare Inc. and Galvanize Inc., experiences that contribute to his understanding of economic development and technology’s role in local communities.
As the election approaches, Fitch’s campaign will likely draw attention to the unique needs of the 1st Berkshire District, ensuring that the voices of its residents are heard within the State House.
