Lawmaker Praises Police Efforts Against Organized Crime

In a recent statement, Montenegrin lawmaker Momčilo Leković commended the ongoing efforts of the Police Administration and the broader security sector in combating organized crime. He noted that while support and praise for these initiatives come from various corners, such endorsements are notably absent from the political opposition, certain media outlets, and individuals associated with former officials.

Leković highlighted that “praise is coming from all sides, except from our opposition, a few suspended police officers, the media of Aco Mijajlović and Milo Đukanović, as well as a handful of self-proclaimed ‘security experts’.” He emphasized the difficulty faced by these critics, suggesting that they would support the fight against crime if their own connections and financial backers were not under scrutiny.

The lawmaker articulated that the resistance from these groups stems not from a desire to uphold justice or protect institutions, but rather from a need to defend their own interests. “It is not easy for them to watch the erosion of their power and protection system, which they have built over decades,” Leković stated.

He further extended his congratulations to Director Šćepanović and all members of the Police Administration and security sector, urging them to continue their strong and decisive actions against organized crime. “You have the support of the citizens,” he affirmed, reinforcing public backing for the police’s endeavors.
