Herceg Novi, Luka Bar, and Buducnost Claim Victories in Superliga

The 9th round of the EPCG Superliga for women’s volleyball saw impressive performances from the top three teams: Herceg Novi, Luka Bar, and Buducnost. Each team secured a decisive victory, solidifying their positions in the league standings.

Herceg Novi, the reigning champions, dominated at home against Jedinstvo, winning with a score of 3-0. This victory marked their ninth consecutive win, while Jedinstvo suffered its sixth defeat of the season. In the absence of Tatjana Bokan, who was resting, Žili Oliveira Souza emerged as the standout player for Herceg Novi, scoring 10 points. Teammates Odet Ndoj, Gordana Madžgalj, and Aleksandra Gligorić contributed significantly, each adding up to nine points. On the opposing side, Andrija Merdović led Jedinstvo with seven points.

Luka Bar also triumphed with a 3-0 victory against Rudar in Pljevlja, marking their eighth win of the season. The team was propelled to success by Magdalena Kuburović, who scored 14 points, and Teodora Čavić, contributing 13 points. Katarina Bajčeta and Milena Smolović of Rudar each managed to score three points in the defeat.

In the most anticipated match of the round, Buducnost faced off against Albatros, securing a 3-1 victory. This win came just days after Buducnost eliminated Herceg Novi from the Montenegro Cup quarter-finals. The “Blues” were led by Diana Crnojački, who tallied 15 points, along with Lana Rakočević and Klara Đukić, who added 12 and 11 points, respectively. For Albatros, Anđela Stojković stood out with 13 points, while both Đurđa Nedeljković and Dežanj Varga scored 10 points each.

Moraca, another team from Podgorica, continued the winning streak for the city by defeating Gimnazijalac 3-1. This game mirrored a previous encounter in the Cup quarter-finals. The standout players for Moraca included Lara Jovović and Darja Popović, who both excelled with 19 points. Aleksandra Davidović also made a notable contribution with 10 points. For Gimnazijalac, only five players managed to score, with Jelena Ćorović finishing the match with 15 points and Matea Kovačec adding 14.

In another fixture, Mediteran achieved a significant victory over Budva, winning 3-1. This victory allowed Mediteran to finish the first half of the league with two more wins than Gimnazijalac, which is crucial for playoff positioning. Anastasija Kovačević shone once again, scoring an impressive 27 points, while Milica Obradović and Sara Jovović added 17 and 14 points, respectively. For Budva, both Jana Mrdak and Elena Čolaković contributed 13 points in the loss.

– Buducnost – Albatros: 3-1 (19:25, 25:14, 25:21, 25:19)
