Dell Revives XPS Brand with Upgraded Laptops at CES 2026
Dell has officially reintroduced its iconic XPS brand, unveiling upgraded laptops at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas. The company acknowledged its previous decision to discontinue the XPS line, recognizing it as a misstep that garnered considerable backlash from consumers and tech reviewers alike. In response, Dell has committed to improving its XPS series, stating that the new models will offer a range of enhancements designed to meet consumer expectations.
The refreshed XPS 14 and XPS 16 laptops come equipped with significant upgrades, including a sleek new design featuring the XPS name prominently displayed on the casing. Constructed from premium materials such as aluminium and durable Gorilla Glass 3, these laptops are engineered for mobility and durability, making them suitable for users on the go. Dell’s design team has successfully reduced the weight and thickness of the devices, resulting in the thinnest XPS laptops to date, measuring just 14.6 mm.
As part of the redesign, the laptops feature a reengineered 4K web camera, touted as the narrowest 8MP snapper ever integrated into a Dell device. This upgrade enhances video quality, which is increasingly important for remote work and virtual meetings. Performance-wise, the new XPS models are powered by the latest Ultra processors from Intel, promising faster speeds, improved graphics, and enhanced energy efficiency.
The thermal management system has also undergone a complete redesign, ensuring that the laptops remain cool under load. Users can expect impressive battery life thanks to the innovative 900ED (energy density) cells, capable of sustaining the high-resolution display for over 27 hours on a single charge. This level of performance positions the XPS series as a serious contender in the premium laptop market.
Additional features include edge-to-edge touch displays and speakers equipped with Dolby Atmos, providing rich audio experiences. The laptops also come with multiple ports to accommodate various accessories, enhancing overall usability.
In a statement during the CES event, Dell’s spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to quality: “Today at CES 2026, we unveiled the new Dell XPS 14 and Dell XPS 16. That’s right, the iconic XPS laptops that you know and love are here to stay. XPS has always been our benchmark for premium laptops. The new laptops are rebuilt from the ground up, delivering striking design, speedy performance, impressive displays, and exceptional battery life. All in a compact device, built to move with you.”
With these updates, Dell aims to reclaim its position in the premium laptop segment, appealing to both consumers and professionals seeking a blend of style and performance. The return of the XPS brand marks a significant shift for Dell, promising to deliver on the high expectations set by its legacy.
