Royal Expert Warns Prince William and Kate Middleton on Parenting

Prince William and Kate Middleton have received a cautionary message from a royal expert regarding their parenting approach in light of the experiences of Prince Andrew and Prince Harry. This advice comes as the couple raises their three children—Prince George, aged 12, Princess Charlotte, aged 10, and Prince Louis, aged 7. The commentary emphasizes the potential pitfalls of royal upbringing and the challenges associated with being a “spare” heir.
The insights were shared during a recent episode of the Palace Confidential podcast, hosted by the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor. The commentator suggested that both Andrew and Harry should serve as examples of how royal treatment can lead to negative outcomes. According to the expert, “both have grown up with the wrong attitudes, with that bitterness, resentment from Harry, then in Andrew’s case that sort of weird entitlement.”
The expert further noted that William and Kate are reportedly making significant efforts to ensure their children do not follow similar paths. The royal commentator added, “It is hard in that sense when winner takes all type of thing,” referring to the pressures inherent in royal life.
In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made headlines when they stepped back from their roles as working royals to pursue a new life in the United States. Since then, Harry has publicly criticized his family, notably through his memoir, Spare, and during a high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey. Tensions remain palpable between Harry and other family members, including his father, King Charles III, and brother William.
Conversely, Prince Andrew faced severe scrutiny following his 2019 interview with the BBC, where he attempted to address allegations related to his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, he has stepped back from royal duties and has been embroiled in various controversies, including disputes regarding his residency at Royal Lodge and alleged connections to a Chinese spy.
The podcast discussion also compared the differing attitudes of Prince Andrew and his younger brother Prince Edward. Royal Editor Rebecca English noted that Edward’s upbringing has been marked by more stability and less pressure due to his position further down the line of succession. Friends of Edward described him as someone who “never changed that much” and who maintains a positive demeanor.
The conversation highlighted how personality and the influence of spouses can shape the paths of royal children. Edward’s marriage to Sophie, Countess of Wessex, has been cited as particularly beneficial in fostering a supportive environment.
In a broader context, the royal family continues to navigate the complexities of public perception and personal relationships, particularly in light of recent events. As Prince William prepares his children for their future roles, the lessons learned from the experiences of Andrew and Harry may prove crucial in shaping a more harmonious royal family dynamic.
