Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Set to Shine with Christmas Events
Families across North Lincolnshire can anticipate a festive atmosphere as the annual Christmas lights events approach. The celebrations commence in Scunthorpe town centre on Saturday, November 22, featuring a range of entertainment designed to engage all ages. The highlight of the event will be the countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree, accompanied by various activities and performances throughout the day.
North Lincolnshire Council has announced, “Join our entertainers, stage acts and family-friendly activities as we await the countdown of our Christmas tree in the square.” The festivities kick off at 15:30 and promise a vibrant day filled with free entertainment, live music, festive food, and roaming performers. This community event aims to create a joyful atmosphere, inviting families and friends to come together and celebrate the holiday season.
Exciting Festivities in Nearby Towns
Beyond Scunthorpe, other towns in North Lincolnshire are also gearing up for their own Christmas celebrations. In Brigg, a substantial Christmas fair and market will occur on Friday, November 28, starting at 16:00. Hosted by the Brigg Community Partnership and Brigg Town Council, the event will feature a mixture of indoor and outdoor stalls offering handcrafted gifts and seasonal treats. Children can enjoy rides, while adults can indulge in hot snacks during their late-night shopping ventures.
On the same day, Epworth will host its lights switch-on at 18:30, with a visit from Santa Claus, who will be available to meet children until 19:00. Activities in Haxey will take place at the Haxey Memorial Hall, featuring a fairground, stalls, and an illuminated tractor run, adding to the festive charm.
Another significant event will occur on Saturday, November 29, at Kirton in Lindsey, where families can gather from noon for entertainment that includes community stage acts, children’s rides, and various trade stalls. The Mayor of Kirton in Lindsey, Cllr Hazel Fox, will officially switch on the Christmas lights at 17:00, following a children’s race held during the town’s Summer Gala earlier in July.
Belton’s Festive Celebration
Belton will also join the holiday festivities on Sunday, November 30, beginning at 15:00. The community tree and streetlights will illuminate the area, followed by live music from The Whiskey Frogs, who promise to energize the crowd. Attendees can enjoy mulled wine, wood-fired pizzas, and mini rides for children, ensuring a delightful experience for all.
These festive events not only celebrate the Christmas spirit but also foster community engagement and support local businesses. The variety of activities planned across North Lincolnshire reflects the region’s commitment to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for families during the holiday season. As the countdown to Christmas continues, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate in these celebrations and help light up North Lincolnshire.
