Michelle Keegan Takes Lead in New ITV Series After Welcoming Baby

Michelle Keegan, the former star of *Coronation Street*, has secured a leading role in the upcoming ITV drama *The Blame*. This new six-episode series will explore themes of secrets, suspicion, and systemic corruption. Keegan will portray DI Emma Crane, alongside Douglas Booth, known for his role in *The Sandman*, as DI Tom Radley. Actor Ian Hart is set to play DCI Kenneth Walker.
The announcement follows a busy period for Keegan, who recently celebrated the final season of her acclaimed series *Brassic*. A major hit on Sky since its debut in 2019, *Brassic* has captivated audiences over six series, with Keegan playing the character Erin. The show concluded its sixth series with a significant cliffhanger, prompting the announcement of a seventh season. In a teaser shared on social media, Keegan expressed excitement for the upcoming episodes, stating, “The Brassic gang are going out with a bang. The farewell series of #Brassic, coming soon to @skytv and @nowtv.”
Sky has hinted that the seventh series will deliver “one last batch of capers and chaos,” promising a delightful mix of humor and emotional depth. The network emphasized that this final season aims to be the biggest and best yet for the beloved show.
New Challenges in *The Blame*
ITV’s Director of Drama, Polly Hill, praised *The Blame* as a “brilliant new crime thriller” filled with unexpected twists. Hill noted that the narrative not only tackles crime but also addresses issues such as police corruption, exploitation, and misogyny. She highlighted the talent behind the series, saying, “Megan is such a wonderful and clever writer, and with Michelle Keegan in the lead and Nicola Shindler at the helm, this is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”
The plot of *The Blame* begins with the shocking discovery of the body of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen in the town of Wakestead. As DI Crane and DI Radley investigate, a tragic incident unfolds into a complex web of lies and moral dilemmas.
Personal Milestones for Michelle Keegan
This year has marked significant personal milestones for Keegan as well. In addition to her professional achievements, she and husband Mark Wright recently welcomed their first child, a daughter named Palma Elizabeth Wright, born on March 6, 2025. The couple shared their joy with fans on Instagram, posting a touching black-and-white photo featuring their newborn’s tiny hand.
In a heartfelt message, Keegan expressed, “Together we have a new love to share…Our little girl.” Following this announcement, she shared additional photos on her social media, including one adorned with ‘baby girl’ balloons, capturing the excitement of their new family member.
As Michelle Keegan embarks on this new chapter in both her personal and professional life, fans eagerly anticipate her performances in *The Blame* and the concluding season of *Brassic*. The combination of her talent and the compelling stories promises to keep audiences engaged as she continues to evolve in her career.
