Kellyanne Conway Critiques Rosie O’Donnell’s Political Views
Former advisor to Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, recently provoked controversy by suggesting that critics of the former president, including comedian Rosie O’Donnell, need “a hug or a husband or a dog” to overcome what she termed “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Conway, a cohost on Fox News‘s program, The Five, made these remarks in response to a TikTok video in which O’Donnell called for Trump’s removal from office using the 25th Amendment and referred to him as a “blob.”
In her video, O’Donnell expressed urgency for action before the upcoming November elections, warning that Trump might instigate a war to avoid facing voters. “He needs to be stopped,” she stated. O’Donnell has long been an outspoken critic of Trump and moved to Ireland in January 2017, shortly before his inauguration, citing political turmoil in the United States as a factor in her decision.
During the Fox News segment, Conway questioned O’Donnell’s personal well-being, asking, “Don’t you have anybody who loves you?” She continued, “You need a hug or a husband or a hobby or a dog. Get yourself some help.” Remarkably, Conway appeared unaware that O’Donnell is an openly lesbian individual who has been married to two women.
O’Donnell publicly came out as a lesbian in 2002 at an Ovarian Cancer Research benefit, declaring, “I’m a dyke!” She criticized the notion that her sexuality was a shock to anyone, emphasizing that it should not be treated as a significant revelation.
Conway further characterized O’Donnell during the segment, labeling her as “a slob calling someone else a blob” and alleging that the comedian suffers from what conservatives have coined “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” This term is often used to dismiss criticism of the former president as irrational.
While discussing the political landscape, Conway remarked, “By the way, she moved to Ireland, but she never moved on. And that’s the problem.” She added that many Democrats are concerned about their prospects in the 2028 elections if their strategy continues to focus solely on Trump.
The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions within American politics, particularly as the country approaches another election cycle. Conway’s comments reflect a broader trend among some conservative figures, who often use personal attacks to counteract criticism of the former president.
As the political landscape evolves, the dynamics between public figures like Conway and O’Donnell continue to draw attention, illustrating the deep divisions that remain prevalent in contemporary discourse.
