Gorillaz Unveil ‘The Manifesto’ Featuring Trueno and Proof
Gorillaz have released their latest track, “The Manifesto,” featuring Argentine rapper Trueno and D12 member Proof. The launch of this new song follows a special residency and exhibition held in London in August, where the multimedia collective showcased a collection of new material. The track is part of their forthcoming studio album, The Mountain, set to be released on March 20, 2024.
In “The Manifesto,” Trueno’s unique rap style adds a vibrant layer to the song, enhancing its dynamic feel. Proof, a frequent collaborator with Gorillaz, contributes a notable freestyle that includes the lines, “You aren’t ready for death/Until I showed up, hold breath/Until you blow the on one set…” These lyrics illustrate the song’s intense energy and depth.
The spiritual essence of “The Manifesto” is underscored by comments from Gorillaz co-founder Russel Hobbs. He describes the track as “a musical meditation infused with light,” emphasizing its significance as a journey of the soul. The collaboration reflects Gorillaz’s ongoing commitment to exploring diverse musical influences and innovative collaborations.
The lead single from The Mountain, titled “The Happy Dictator,” features a collaboration with the art-pop duo Sparks, further showcasing the eclectic nature of Gorillaz’s upcoming album. The band’s ability to blend different genres and styles continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, making each release an event in the music calendar.
With the anticipation surrounding “The Manifesto” and the upcoming album, fans can expect a rich tapestry of sounds and themes that Gorillaz has become known for. The integration of international artists like Trueno highlights the group’s global reach and the universal appeal of their music.
Listeners can now tune in to “The Manifesto,” available across various streaming platforms, and experience the latest offering from one of the most innovative groups in contemporary music.
