Professional dancer Amy Dowden has announced her decision to undergo another mastectomy in the coming days as part of her ongoing recovery from breast cancer. The 35-year-old Welsh performer, known for her participation in Strictly Come Dancing, clarified that this surgery follows consultations with her “incredible” medical team and is not prompted by a new cancer diagnosis.

Dowden shared this update with her followers on Instagram, emphasizing her commitment to transparency regarding her health journey. She stated, “As you all know I’ve always been very open about my health and the care I receive. So I’d like to start by being clear what I am about to share is not to treat a new cancer diagnosis.” She expressed confidence in her recovery, stating, “They’re confident that, all going well, I can expect a straightforward recovery. Once I have healed I look forward to rejoining my Strictly family.”

She documented her health journey on social media, and by February 2024, she joyfully announced that there was “no evidence of disease” following her latest medical examination.

In 2024, she made a return to the competition, partnering with JB Gill. Unfortunately, an injury forced her to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing midway through the show’s 20th anniversary series, with Lauren Oakley stepping in as her replacement. Despite a brief return, Dowden faced elimination in the opening week alongside her partner Tom Skinner, disappointing her many fans.
