Tinubu’s Administration Sets Stage for Nigeria’s Economic Growth
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is establishing a robust foundation for Nigeria’s long-term economic growth and shared prosperity. This statement was made during a courtesy visit from members of the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu (GAT) 2027 in Abuja.
In remarks shared through a statement from his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris highlighted the government’s commitment to taking bold actions. He noted that these sometimes challenging decisions are essential for placing Nigeria on a more sustainable path. “Early signs of recovery are becoming evident across key sectors of the economy,” he stated. “These steps were taken to stabilize the economy and restore confidence.”
Call for Unity and Positive Messaging
Idris urged citizens to protect Nigeria’s improving economic outlook through unity and responsible communication. “Distorted narratives about the country hurt investor confidence and slow development,” he warned. He called for a collective effort to project stability and attract investments, stating, “When we project stability and unity, we attract investments and create opportunities for our people.”
During the meeting, Idris praised GAT 2027 for its active civic engagement and commitment to supporting accurate public information. He welcomed the group’s proposal to partner with the Federal Ministry of Information and the National Orientation Agency. This partnership aims to enhance public enlightenment, youth engagement, and strategic communication.
Idris stressed the importance of advocacy groups, noting that they play a crucial role in ensuring government policies effectively reach the grassroots. He reaffirmed the president’s commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, regardless of their background or beliefs. “The ministry will continue to collaborate with credible groups to ensure accurate information is widely shared,” he assured the delegation.
GAT 2027’s Commitment to Accurate Information
Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, National Coordinator of GAT 2027, expressed the group’s support for the minister’s mandate. He stated that the visit aimed to formally brief Idris on their activities and show solidarity with the government’s efforts to inform the public and clarify policies. “We are here to solidarize with you on the mandate you have for Nigeria, which is to inform the country, clarify government policies, and take information to the grassroots,” he said.
Ipuele emphasized GAT 2027’s dedication to supporting President Tinubu’s policies, particularly in counteracting distorted narratives during election periods. The group is also focused on engaging young people and responding swiftly to false or misleading information in the public discourse. “We are poised to engage the youth and provide accurate information in real time,” he concluded.
The discussions between Idris and GAT 2027 reflect a concerted effort to foster a stable and prosperous Nigeria through effective communication and community engagement.
