Flint Town United Secures Second Consecutive Clean Sheet with 2-0 Win
Flint Town United continued their strong performance with a solid 2-0 victory over Llanelli, marking their second consecutive match without conceding a goal. Under the leadership of manager Lee Fowler, the Silkmen’s latest win adds vital points to their campaign, pulling them three points clear of the relegation zone and bringing them within three points of seventh-placed Cardiff Met.
The match took place at the Latham Park ground, where Flint’s top scorer, Elliott Reeves, made a significant impact. Just four minutes before halftime, Reeves netted his seventh goal of the season to put Flint in front. Despite a slow start, where Fowler noted the team struggled to control the ball and relied too heavily on long passes, the Silkmen found their rhythm.
Assistant manager Steve Evans reflected on the team’s performance during an interview with S4C’s Sgorio, stating, “Look, clean sheets, two on the bounce now. To be fair, I thought we started poorly… But, to be fair, we scored a good goal and got the second, second half, pen, and yeah, we were comfortable.” The second goal came midway through the second half when Darren Stephenson converted a penalty, further solidifying Flint’s lead.
In other matches within the Play-off Conference, next-to-bottom Bala Town managed a 1-1 draw against Cardiff Met. Former Flint striker Cameron Ferguson scored for Bala in the 33rd minute, only to see his lead equalized by Cardiff Met’s Fumpa Mwandwe shortly after the break.
Meanwhile, Haverfordwest County claimed a 2-0 win over Briton Ferry Llansawel, with goals from Dan Hawkins and Ben Ahmun in the second half. These results underscore the competitive nature of the league as teams vie for position ahead of the playoff stage.
As Flint Town United continues to build momentum, their defensive prowess and ability to secure victories are crucial to their ambitions for the remainder of the season. The Silkmen will look to maintain their form as they approach upcoming fixtures, striving to close the gap on the playoff contenders above them.
