A warrant without bail has been issued for Ben Gwillim, a 27-year-old man from Tanyfford, Cyffredin Lane, Newbridge-on-Wye, who failed to appear at the Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court. Gwillim was expected to answer charges related to drug driving during a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 1, 2025, when Gwillim allegedly drove a vehicle on the A470 Hay road in Builth Wells. According to court documents, he was found to have more than the legal limit of Benzoylecgonine—a metabolite of cocaine—in his bloodstream. Reports indicate that his blood contained a concentration of at least 400 micrograms of the substance per litre, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 50 micrograms.

In addition to this charge, Gwillim faces a second allegation of driving with a concentration of cocaine in his system above the permissible threshold. On the same date, he reportedly had a level of at least 13 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood, surpassing the limit of 10 micrograms.

During the court proceedings, magistrates noted that Gwillim had not made any attempt to contact the court regarding his absence. As a result, they issued a warrant for his arrest without the possibility of bail, indicating the seriousness of the charges he faces.

The actions taken by the magistrates reflect a stringent approach to drug driving offenses, underscoring the legal system’s commitment to road safety. Gwillim’s whereabouts remain unknown following the issuance of the warrant, and authorities are expected to continue their efforts to locate him for prosecution.

As this case unfolds, it highlights ongoing concerns about drug-related driving incidents and their implications for public safety on the roads.
