Devon Pritchard Debuts as Nintendo of America President at Awards
Nintendo of America has welcomed a new leader. During the 15th Annual New York Game Awards, Devon Pritchard made her first public appearance as President and Chief Operating Officer. Pritchard, who succeeded Doug Bowser at the end of 2025, addressed the gaming community through a pre-recorded video, celebrating both the awards and the nonprofit initiative, Playing With Purpose.
The event, which took place in New York City, featured introductions by former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé and New York Times columnist Harold Goldberg. Pritchard’s video message highlighted the significance of the awards in fostering creativity and storytelling within the gaming industry.
In her address, Pritchard expressed her enthusiasm for engaging with the community: “Hi everyone, it is great to be here. My name is Devon, and before anything else, I want to celebrate the New York Game Awards. Fifteen years of supporting the games industry and, in doing so, lifting up the voices, stories, and dreams of so many.”
She emphasized the importance of community and collaboration, stating that the ‘Playing With Purpose’ program aims to support aspiring creators across New York through workshops in journalism and game narrative writing. Pritchard noted, “This show connects people who are united by a shared belief that every dream matters, and that everyone deserves a chance to do meaningful and creative work in games and storytelling.”
Looking ahead, Pritchard faces significant responsibilities. As she steps into her role, she will spearhead the launch of the next generation console, Switch 2, which has generated excitement among fans. However, uncertainties regarding pricing and the introduction of Game-Key Cards remain topics of discussion within the gaming community.
Pritchard concluded her message with an encouraging note: “So keep believing, keep playing, and know that you truly belong in this game.” Her arrival marks a new chapter for Nintendo of America, and the gaming industry watches closely as she begins this journey.
With a strong commitment to fostering creativity and innovation, Pritchard’s leadership may shape the future of Nintendo and its impact on the gaming landscape. As she embarks on this adventure, the challenges ahead will test her ability to unite and inspire both the company and its dedicated fanbase.
