Traffic Disruptions in Montenegro Due to Weather and Construction
Severe weather conditions in Montenegro have led to hazardous driving situations on many roads. As of today, motorists are experiencing wet roadways and reduced visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. The Auto Moto Savez Crne Gore (AMSCG) has advised drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations due to frequent landslides and standing water on various routes.
Motorists must comply with mandatory winter tire regulations until April 1, 2026. This requirement applies to all vehicles on marked roads, regardless of current weather conditions. In areas affected by winter weather—such as snowfall, ice, or slippery conditions—vehicles must have winter tires on all wheels, with a minimum tread depth of 4 mm.
Specific Road Closures and Traffic Changes
Significant traffic disruptions are reported on the Cetinje-Podgorica road at Kruševo Zdrijelo, where a protest will halt traffic from 17:20 to 20:30. Additionally, the R-10 Đurđevića Tara – Mojkovac road is fully closed to all vehicle types due to rockslides as part of critical repairs in Sokolovina.
From now until November 30, traffic management will change from two-way to alternating flow at work zones along the M-2 road, affecting segments from Lepenac to Ribarevina and Poda to Berane. Temporary total road closures may occur, lasting no longer than 30 minutes.
Traffic on the regional road R-29 Bar-Kamenički most-Krute will also be suspended for all vehicles from 08:00 to 11:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00 due to ongoing reconstruction. Similarly, modifications to traffic patterns are approved for the Petnjica-Bioča road, allowing for alternating traffic and occasional total shutdowns not exceeding 60 minutes.
Upcoming Construction and Film Shoot Impacts
On November 16, from 21:00 to 07:00, there will be temporary road closures to facilitate the transport of components for the Gvozd wind farm along routes from Luka Bar to Nikšić. Other changes include alternating traffic on the M-1 road between Bar and Ulcinj due to bridge reconstruction work.
Preparations for the filming of “Battle of the Motors” will cause intermittent road closures on several routes on November 21, 2025. These interruptions will occur at the following locations: R-25.1 Međuvršje to Lovćen between 07:00 and 10:00, R-25 Ivanova Korita to Međuvršje from 08:00 to 12:00, and M-8 Lipci to Grahovo from 12:00 to 17:00, with traffic disruptions not exceeding 15 minutes.
Over the past 24 hours, the region reported 23 traffic accidents, resulting in five minor injuries. A service provided by the Auto Moto Savez Crne Gore offers technical assistance to drivers, including roadside help and minor repairs. Their information center operates 24/7, and assistance can be requested via phone numbers 19807, 020234999, or 063239987.
Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and check for updates on road conditions and closures before traveling.
