Sherrie Hewson, the celebrated actress known for her roles in hit television series, has recently addressed speculation about her potential return to the popular show Benidorm and expressed enthusiasm for a comeback to Coronation Street. At 75 years old, she remains vibrant and eager to take on new projects, including the launch of her own podcast, set to debut next month.

Hewson, who turned 75 in September 2023, is not slowing down. In an interview, she shared her desire to return to her beloved character, Joyce Temple-Savage, in Benidorm. “We’re always the last to know when it comes to Benidorm! But wouldn’t it be brilliant? It would be fabulous, wouldn’t it?” she remarked. With the show’s enduring popularity, she is keen to jump back into the role that brought her joy and recognition.

Reflecting on her time in the series, Hewson praised the writing of creator Derren Litten, stating that he crafted “brilliantly written” characters for women. “I had so many incredible years on that show—five months in Benidorm every year, you can’t get better than that,” she said. The actress indicated she would “jump on the plane now” if given the opportunity to return to the show.

Apart from her aspirations in television, Hewson is also excited about her new podcast, titled Very Very Sherrie. She describes it as a platform for honest discussions filled with personal anecdotes and lively conversations. “You know me, I have no filter. I’ll just say whatever comes, which is perfect for podcasts, isn’t it?” she said, highlighting her intention to bring positivity and realness to the show.

In her candid remarks, Hewson challenged the narrative that often surrounds discussions about aging. She pointed out that her late mother had a more liberated view about growing older, encouraging her to embrace life rather than dwell on the superficial aspects of aging. “My mum always said to me, ‘think, what’s the alternative—you could be dead,’” she recalled. This perspective fuels her drive to continue working and engaging with her audience.

While she is enthusiastic about her television roles, Hewson is less inclined to participate in reality shows like I’m A Celebrity. She believes that contestants should fully commit to the experience, stating, “If you’re going to say that you will do the jungle, you’ve got to do it. You can’t go in there and go ‘well, I’m not doing this, and I’m not doing that.’” Her experience on Celebrity Big Brother has shaped her views on the expectations of participants in such programs.

As the launch of Very Very Sherrie approaches, Hewson is eager to connect with listeners through engaging content that reflects her character and experiences. She aims to focus on uplifting themes that encourage taking action and finding joy in life. “Yes, it’s been a tough time, but I don’t give a s**t. Just get on with what your life is now,” she asserted, emphasizing a proactive approach to life in the wake of challenges.

Sherrie Hewson’s upcoming podcast promises to be a refreshing addition to the media landscape, offering listeners an authentic and entertaining perspective on life, career, and the art of storytelling. As she prepares for this new chapter, her enthusiasm for her craft remains undiminished, showcasing her enduring passion for performance and connection with her audience.
