Belfast Unveils New Christmas Grotto Experience for 2025

A new and immersive Christmas Grotto experience, the Victoria Square Express, is set to launch in Belfast this festive season. Starting on November 8, 2025, this unique event will operate on weekends throughout November and daily from December 22 to 24. Visitors can board a magical train at Victoria Square, which will transport them to a snowy Christmas village filled with festive activities.

Upon arrival, attendees will have the opportunity to explore Santa’s Village Stores, meet several of Santa’s reindeer—including a singing reindeer—and step inside the enchanting Snow Globe Snug. The experience culminates in a personal meeting with Santa Claus himself, promising a memorable outing for families.

Michelle Greeves, Centre Manager at Victoria Square, expressed her excitement about the new attraction. She stated, “Christmas is always a magical time at Victoria Square, but this year we’re taking it to a whole new level. The Victoria Square Express is an immersive festive journey that captures the wonder and excitement of the season for children and adults alike.”

The festive atmosphere will officially begin with the Christmas Lights switch-on event, also on November 8. At 12:00 PM, Santa will join entertainer Peter Corry and friends to illuminate the centre under its iconic glass dome, marking the start of the Christmas celebrations in the city.

In addition to the Victoria Square Express, the Christmas Fayre will return on selected dates throughout the holiday season. Late-night shopping will commence on December 8, with stores remaining open until 9:00 PM on weekdays through to December 23. This extended shopping time provides extra opportunities for visitors to find perfect gifts.

To ensure a pleasant experience, quieter visiting hours for the Victoria Square Express are scheduled for Sundays, including November 16, November 23, and November 30, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. Pre-booking is essential for those wishing to participate in this festive journey.
