Woman, 27, Chooses No Kissing Until Wedding Day, Sparks Debate

A 27-year-old woman from Houston, Texas, has made headlines by committing to not kiss anyone until her wedding day. Elezha Hudson, a security guard, first expressed her decision at the age of 10, stating she would not kiss someone unless they were married. Hudson has remained steadfast in her vow, and her choice has sparked curiosity and concern among potential partners and acquaintances.
When Hudson shares her experience, many people react with surprise. They often question whether she is in a cult or if there is something wrong with her. “When I speak to people my age or younger, they are usually shocked and sometimes a bit disturbed,” she explains. Conversations about marriage often turn towards intimacy, and Hudson notes that men are typically taken aback to learn that she is both 27 and a virgin.
Despite this, Hudson maintains that her decision is a personal choice grounded in her values. “I have dated before, and usually, it’s not a surprise for them as we’ve had a conversation about it even before dating,” she states. While some partners share similar values, others do not, leading her to end relationships that do not align with her commitment to abstain from intimacy before marriage.
Hudson finds empowerment in her choice, emphasizing that she is comfortable with the idea of remaining “kissless” for life if she does not meet the right person. She reflects, “If I really liked that person, I don’t think it would be a problem.” This perspective allows Hudson to focus on her relationships without the pressure of conforming to societal expectations surrounding dating and intimacy.
Challenging Norms and Embracing Individuality
As a Christian, Hudson acknowledges that her beliefs around virginity until marriage are not universally upheld within her faith. She clarifies, “I know people in my faith that have had sex before their wedding day.” Her stance is not about judgment but rather a personal conviction that she feels no need to justify to others.
Hudson has come to terms with the potential for not having a first kiss or losing her virginity. “If a family is what I desire, I can adopt and have a family,” she states confidently. This outlook is liberating for her, as she believes she has nothing to lose by waiting for the right moment.
The idea of kissing holds a different significance for Hudson, who says, “The meaning of a kiss is different for me and I’m waiting for the one to have this moment with.” Her anticipation is not solely about the act of kissing but rather about sharing that experience with someone who genuinely values her.
Hudson’s story serves as a reminder that personal choices regarding intimacy can vary widely. By speaking out, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their own paths without fear of judgment. Hudson’s journey highlights the importance of self-acceptance, regardless of societal pressures, and encourages open discussions about relationships and personal values in contemporary society.
As Hudson prepares for her future, she is excited about the prospect of sharing her first kiss with someone who is ready for a committed relationship. She emphasizes that the connection with her partner is far more significant than the act itself. “I’m more excited about being with a person that I have a real connection with rather than the kiss itself,” she concludes, reflecting a mindset that prioritizes emotional intimacy over physical expressions.
