The popular reality show The Apprentice is set to return for its 20th series, featuring a fresh lineup of 20 candidates competing for a substantial investment of £250,000 from business magnate Lord Sugar. The series will premiere on January 29, 2024, with a total of 12 episodes, where Lord Sugar, alongside his advisers Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, will gradually eliminate contestants.

This season promises to be particularly exciting, with the contestants facing unique challenges, including a surprise relocation to Hong Kong for the first episode. Lord Sugar expressed his enthusiasm about this innovative approach, stating, “The thinking behind it was it’s the 20th series, and what can we do that’s different? So I thought, ‘Well, why don’t I jump on a plane and surprise them in Hong Kong?'”

The contestants were aware they would be traveling to Hong Kong, but they were not informed about Lord Sugar’s appearance. He described the moment as a delightful surprise for the candidates, adding, “So all of a sudden they come into this boardroom and there I am. So that was a nice surprise for them. They were surprised, but they weren’t unhappy with it – maybe a little excited.”

Throughout the series, viewers can expect to see multiple eliminations in a single episode, as Lord Sugar aims to streamline the competition. The high-stakes atmosphere will be heightened as the candidates strive to impress him and secure his investment.

As in previous seasons, the challenges will test the candidates’ business acumen, creativity, and teamwork. Following the format established in earlier series, audience engagement will be a key aspect, with viewers watching the candidates navigate various tasks designed to evaluate their entrepreneurial skills.

The Apprentice will be available for viewing on BBC One and iPlayer, beginning on January 29. Fans of the show can look forward to a mix of drama, competition, and business strategy as the new series unfolds.
