Swiss Inventor Tobias Reichmuth Embarks on BlueCruise Journey
In a unique initiative aimed at understanding longevity, Swiss entrepreneur Tobias Reichmuth has set sail on an 18-month expedition called BlueCruise. This journey involves exploring the world’s Blue Zones, regions where people frequently live beyond the age of 100. Currently docked off the picturesque coast of Capri, Reichmuth’s 45-meter explorer yacht, named Prometej, serves as both a floating retreat and a hub for health and wellness.
Reichmuth, 47, describes BlueCruise as a “longevity trip for daily life.” Onboard, the yacht features a variety of wellness facilities designed to promote healthy living. Guests include an eclectic mix of individuals, such as adventure photographers and Shaolin monks, bringing diverse perspectives on well-being and longevity.
The inspiration for this venture stemmed from Reichmuth’s personal experiences and readings. He notes that after two successful exits in the fintech and energy transition sectors, he found himself at a crossroads during the Covid-19 pandemic. “In the year I turned 40, my parents turned 70,” he remarked. With time on his hands and resources to invest, he was drawn to the principles outlined in Lifespan by David Sinclair, which he refers to as “sort of a bible for early movers in longevity.”
Reichmuth’s background reflects a commitment to health and innovation. Growing up near Basel, he enjoyed organizing community activities and pursued a career that blended technology with environmental sustainability. His interest in longevity has permeated all aspects of his life, including his dietary habits and investment strategies.
“I help my parents stay young, I help myself, and eventually everybody — while you do good business. That’s impact investing, isn’t it?” he explained. This philosophy underpins his expedition, as he aims to uncover not just the secrets to longevity but also ways to integrate them into everyday life.
As BlueCruise continues, Reichmuth hopes to engage with local communities in these Blue Zone regions, sharing insights and practices that contribute to long life. The expedition reflects a growing global interest in healthy living and longevity, promising to shed light on how lifestyle changes can potentially enhance the quality and length of life.
With the journey set to last until 2025, Reichmuth’s commitment to this cause underscores a significant trend in modern entrepreneurship — the fusion of business with personal well-being and social impact. By transforming his yacht into a vessel of learning and discovery, he is charting a course that could inspire others to pursue healthier lifestyles while fostering a deeper understanding of what it means to live well.
