Manchester United Eyes RB Leipzig’s Diomande Amid Transfer Talks

The club’s managing director, Oliver Mintzlaff, indicated that Leipzig could be willing to sell the promising player if the financial terms are favorable. Diomande, who has emerged as a potential substitute for Antoine Semenyo, currently faces competition from rivals, with Semenyo reportedly nearing a move to Bournemouth’s competitors, Manchester City.

Diomande, a 19-year-old talent, has impressed in the Bundesliga, recording six goals and three assists in just 14 appearances this season. His performance has not only attracted the attention of Manchester United but also that of other top clubs, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. The player’s valuation is estimated to be around £52 million to £61 million, according to Sky Sports.

In an interview with German outlet Welt, he stated, “We want to ensure that we don’t just develop players for one year. But that we can also retain top talents for longer.” He emphasized the club’s ambition to maintain its status within the Bundesliga, adding that they must sometimes consider lucrative offers for their players.

While Mintzlaff conveyed a willingness to entertain substantial bids, he also noted the importance of evaluating opportunities that could yield significant profits. He remarked, “If there’s an exorbitant offer far above market value, and we are convinced that it’s a unique opportunity for a significant profit, then we have to be honest with ourselves, discuss it, and keep a cool head.”

Despite the positive indications regarding Diomande’s availability, Manchester United has not confirmed plans to pursue him immediately. The January transfer window is approaching, but reports suggest that United may not act decisively in seeking a replacement for Semenyo.
