King Charles reached out with a heartfelt letter to the Osbourne family following the death of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, who passed away in July 2023 at the age of 76. The compassionate gesture by the monarch brought comfort to Sharon Osbourne and their children during a challenging time.

During a recent episode of the Osbournes podcast, their son Jack Osbourne shared details about the royal correspondence, stating, “We got a lovely letter from the king.” In her remarks, Sharon expressed her deep appreciation for the monarch, saying, “Our King is an amazing person. He is an amazing person, not just because he wrote to us when Ozzy passed, but if he did it for us, know he does it for many, many, many people.”

Sharon Osbourne Reflects on King Charles’ Compassion

Sharon highlighted King Charles’s understanding of everyday life, noting, “Here’s a man that does know what’s going on in the street with people. Not just politics, but he cares about the environment and animals.” She underscored the importance of his actions, stating, “He cares about many, many, many things.”

The 73-year-old matriarch recalled that this was not the first time King Charles had reached out to their family. In 2003, when Ozzy suffered a serious injury in a quad bike accident, the then-Prince of Wales had also extended his support. Sharon emphasized the significance of the recent gesture, saying, “He didn’t have to do certain things that he’s done for Ozzy. He is a good, caring man with a good heart.”

Sharon further noted the effort that went into delivering the letter, stating, “He took the time out of his day to write us, have it hand-delivered to us, a note from the King for Ozzy’s passing with his condolences, and that says so much.”

Messages from Other High-Profile Figures

King Charles was not the only prominent figure to express condolences following Ozzy’s death. Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne also received a voicemail from former US President Donald Trump. In his message, Trump said, “Ozzy was amazing. He was an amazing guy. I met him a few times, and I want to tell you he was unique in every way and talented.” He expressed his sympathy, acknowledging the close bond Sharon had with her husband.

Jack commented on the unexpected nature of the message, stating, “Love him or hate him, he didn’t have to call and leave a voicemail.” Sharon, who previously competed on Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2010, praised him and First Lady Melania Trump, recalling their gracious interactions.

Sharon remarked, “All I know is a man that I know, I worked with for a month. I spent one month with him and his wife, who was always gracious, elegant, just a delight to talk to.” She added that Trump often asked about her children and praised their upbringing, saying, “He was just a great guy to talk to and he has always treated me with respect.”

While Sharon acknowledged that her positive remarks about Trump might be controversial, she stated, “Listen, I’m not American. I can’t vote. I don’t want to vote. I don’t vote for anyone. Never have, never will.” She emphasized that her appreciation for the Trumps stems from personal experience, noting, “All I know is he’s treated me with respect, your father with respect. He wanted nothing from us. Nothing. Melania – the same. Nothing. And they have been great.”

The gestures of support from both King Charles and Donald Trump highlight the connections and respect that transcend public personas, offering a glimpse into the personal lives of those in the spotlight during times of loss.
