Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner File Defamation Suit Against Ray J

Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have initiated a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, following his claims that racketeering charges related to the famous family “would be appropriate.” The suit was filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court and details allegations made during a documentary appearance and a livestream.
The controversy began when Ray J, whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr., suggested in the documentary “TMZ Presents: United States v. Sean Combs” that the Kardashian family could face serious legal scrutiny. He stated, “If you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.” These comments refer to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO, which is typically employed in cases involving organized crime.
In addition to the documentary remarks, the lawsuit highlights a livestream conversation on September 24, where Ray J asserted, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy.” He went on to warn that “the feds is coming” for the Kardashians. This livestream has gained substantial attention online, with Ray J further promoting it by tweeting, “stay tuned.”
Kardashian and Jenner have firmly denied any wrongdoing, labeling Ray J’s statements as “baseless” and “blatantly false.” The lawsuit contends that no federal investigation or law enforcement actions exist regarding the allegations made by Ray J. It further states, “No credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.”
The suit accuses Ray J of attempting to exploit his past relationship with Kim Kardashian, which ended more than two decades ago, for personal gain. It claims, “Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to Plaintiffs’ names.”
Alex Spiro, the attorney representing Kardashian and Jenner, emphasized the seriousness of the allegations in a statement to Page Six. He noted that this is the first defamation claim brought by the pair, stating, “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before, nor have they been distracted by noise, but this false and serious allegation left no choice.”
Kardashian and Jenner are seeking both actual and punitive damages from Ray J. As of now, Ray J has not publicly responded to the lawsuit. The legal battle highlights the ongoing tensions in the Kardashian family’s public life, particularly related to their past associations and the media’s portrayal of their personal narratives.
