CCTV Image Released After Violent Train Attack in Staffordshire

A disturbing incident on a train in Staffordshire has prompted the British Transport Police (BTP) to release a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak to regarding an attack that occurred on May 3, 2023. The 26-year-old victim was travelling with a group when she became embroiled in a violent confrontation.

The incident took place at approximately 23:55 as the group was on board the train. According to BTP, a dispute broke out between a man known to the group and another passenger. Tensions escalated when a woman associated with the man began shouting at the group, criticizing the man’s behaviour.

In a sudden act of aggression, she lunged at the 26-year-old victim and attempted to grab her throat. The situation intensified, leading to further assault before other passengers intervened to stop the altercation. Once the train reached Landywood railway station, all parties involved exited the train.

BTP has stated that the woman captured in the CCTV image may have critical information related to the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes her to come forward.
