Fiona Hughes, a contestant on the popular BBC series *The Traitors*, recently shared insights into her strategy and experience on the show, which continues to capture audiences across the UK. During an appearance on *The Scott Mills Breakfast Show* on BBC Radio 2, Hughes discussed her unique approach to selecting her “murder shortlist” while playing the role of a secret traitor.

Hughes, 62, from Swansea, explained she chose the players on her shortlist based on their perceived loyalty. She stated that she picked the “most faithful” contestants as her targets, believing they posed a potential threat to her position. As a secret traitor, she operated under the guise of a red cloak, maintaining her identity hidden from both the other players and the viewing audience.

Reflecting on her time in the competition, Hughes described it as a “wonderful experience.” She was ultimately banished from the show after attempting to eliminate another traitor, which led to her receiving the most votes against her. This pivotal moment not only defined her time on the show but also demonstrated the intense dynamics at play among the contestants.

Hughes elaborated on her shortlist, naming fellow contestants Netty, Ben, and Maz as her chosen targets. She praised them for their characteristics, stating, “Netty was fantastic, she’s so friendly, beautiful and open-hearted. Ben, a veteran, was clever. And Maz, his whole aura was one of love and peace.”

The dramatic banishment, which left viewers on edge, prompted Hughes to reflect on her actions, humorously calling herself a “plonker.” She also enjoyed watching the show from home, celebrating the finale with family during a watch party that marked her departure.

Despite her time on the show spanning only six episodes, Hughes felt as if she had spent a “lifetime” in the game. “It was a wonderful experience,” she reiterated, highlighting the emotional impact of her journey.

Fans can continue to follow the unfolding drama of *The Traitors*, which airs on BBC One and is available for streaming on iPlayer. The next episode is scheduled for January 14, 2024, at 20:00, promising more twists and turns in this gripping reality competition.
