Legendary Corsica Studios to Close in 2026, Plans Refurbishment

Corsica Studios, a prominent nightclub located in Elephant and Castle, will close its doors for renovations in March 2026, after more than two decades of operation. The venue has been a cornerstone of London’s underground music scene since its establishment in 2002, hosting a range of renowned artists including Helena Hauff, Nina Kraviz, and Björk.

In a statement released to Time Out, Corsica Studios announced that it plans to reopen with a refurbished space that will feature soundproofing and a long-term lease, aimed at alleviating concerns regarding noise complaints from nearby residents. The club emphasized that it is not closing due to pressure from local developers or complaints, asserting its reputation as a considerate venue operator.

The statement clarified, “As Southwark Council will attest, we are a well-run, considerate venue operator and we are not on the receiving end of any noise complaints from local residents.” It also mentioned an ongoing dialogue with both the council and developers about securing a future for Corsica in the area.

Operating a late-night venue has become increasingly challenging, especially with the rise of new developments in the vicinity. Corsica Studios has been working closely with the Greater London Authority, the Music Venue Trust, and various consultants to ensure that the venue can continue to thrive while maintaining its core identity.
