On October 26, 2023, the first-ever Festival of Contemporary Dance will take place at the Students’ Cultural Centre (SKC) in Podgorica. This event, organized by the Association of Dance Artists and Creators of Montenegro, is held under the auspices of the World Artistic Dance Federation (WADF). It will feature approximately 500 dancers from the region, showcasing the latest trends in contemporary dance.
The festival aims to promote contemporary dance styles, foster artistic exchanges, and strengthen cultural cooperation within the region. A diverse array of dance schools, including members of UPUS, will participate, alongside guest performers from Albania.
“The festival provides a unique opportunity for dancers to present their work in front of an international jury,” the organizers stated. Through a series of choreographies, participants will highlight their artistic expression and share their experiences with audiences.
The event invites all dance enthusiasts and art lovers to support young talents in this vibrant cultural exhibition. By attending, participants can experience the richness of contemporary dance and engage with emerging artists. The festival represents not only a celebration of dance but also signifies a commitment to enhancing cultural dialogue and collaboration across borders.
The organizers emphasize that the Festival of Contemporary Dance is a significant milestone for Podgorica, marking the city’s growing role as a cultural hub. They encourage the community to come together and celebrate the art of dance, fostering an environment where creativity can flourish.
This inaugural festival is expected to draw considerable attention, providing a platform for artists to connect and inspire one another. With the participation of around 500 performers, the event promises to be an exciting showcase of talent and innovation in the world of contemporary dance.
