Armed Suspect Arrested in Niksic Prevents Potential Crime

Niksic police apprehended a 21-year-old man, identified as V.N., early on March 15, 2024, preventing a potential violent incident. The arrest occurred around 01:00 near a local establishment, where V.N., a known repeat offender, was found in possession of a ballistic vest and an illegal firearm.

During a routine check, officers discovered that V.N. was wearing a protective vest branded Point Blank. A subsequent search revealed a Czech Zbrojovka pistol, chambered for 9 mm ammunition, which he had in his possession unlawfully. According to the police statement, both the firearm and the vest were confiscated, and V.N. was transported to the Niksic Security Department for further processing.

The police have stated that V.N. was arrested under the instruction of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Niksic. He faces charges for illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive materials. The authorities confirmed that he will be presented to the competent state prosecutor for additional legal actions within the required timeframe.

Additional Arrests and Ongoing Investigations

In separate incidents during the night, police officers from the Intervention Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Passat with Tivat registration, driven by M.T., a 31-year-old from Niksic. During the stop, they discovered an automatic starting pistol, Ekol, along with 11 rounds of ammunition and two additional boxes containing 77 more rounds. M.T. was subsequently sanctioned for violating Article 27 of the Law on Weapons.

Furthermore, Niksic police detained another individual, V.V., aged 20, who was found operating a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances. He, too, will face legal proceedings in accordance with relevant laws.
