Vezuv Volcano Launches Campaign to Promote Responsible Weapon Ownership
A new social responsibility campaign titled “Vrati oružje – život to zaslužuje” has been launched by Vezuv Volcano through its socially responsible brand Volumen, in collaboration with the Mačevalački savez Crne Gore (Montenegro Fencing Federation). This initiative aims to encourage citizens to adopt a responsible attitude toward weapons and contribute to the creation of a safer society.
The campaign commenced in November, following Vezuv Volcano’s announcement in September that it had become a proud sponsor of the Montenegrin Fencing Federation. The partnership has given rise to the campaign, which effectively utilizes the symbolism of fencing to convey a powerful social message.
A central component of the campaign is a television advertisement broadcasted on national channels in Montenegro. The spot features prominent Montenegrin actor Mirko Vlahović alongside members of the Montenegrin Fencing Federation. The advertisement’s message poignantly declares, “Prosla su davna vremena viteštva – oružje ne treba da bude više lična stvar. Osim u sportu, kao takmičarska disciplina,” which translates to “The days of chivalry are long gone – weapons should no longer be personal possessions. Except in sports, as a competitive discipline.”
The campaign highlights the pressing need to reduce the number of weapons still held in private ownership, whether legally or illegally. Its objective is to promote a collective sense of responsibility and enhance the overall feeling of safety within the community.
According to Vezuv Volcano, “This initiative exemplifies how sports and social responsibility can convey a strong message together. As a company, we wanted to contribute to addressing a challenge that has long hindered the development of a safer society.” The campaign utilizes the discipline, respect, and honor inherent in the sport of fencing to remind individuals that strength lies not in weapons, but in nobility, community, and responsibility towards life and society.
The initiative is especially significant as it addresses the critical issue of weapon ownership in Montenegro, urging citizens to reflect on their roles in fostering a safer environment. The campaign serves as a reminder that true strength comes from collective action and responsible choices, advocating for a future where safety is prioritized above personal possession of weapons.
As the campaign progresses, Vezuv Volcano aims to engage the community in meaningful dialogue about weapon ownership, safety, and civic responsibility, ultimately striving to reshape perceptions surrounding these topics in Montenegro.
